One way that you’re fighting yourself…and losing
One way that you’re fighting yourself…and losing
by Craig on September 5, 2009

Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.
Are you telling yourself you should do something, or you need to do something? If so, you’re fighting yourself…and losing.
That’s just what we do as human beings though. We live in a world where there are deadlines, milestones, goals, and all sorts of other time-based objectives. There are also things we feel obligated to do and things we feel responsible for. So we put the pressure on ourselves to perform. One of the ways we do that is with the feeling of “should.” And when that feeling comes up, our productivity goes down.
There’s nothing wrong with having deadlines, responsibilities and all the other things I mentioned. But where we run into trouble is with the feeling of “I should” or “I need to.” Let’s take a look at why:
Think back to the last time somebody else told you that you should do something or that you need to do something. How did you respond emotionally? Chances are the first thing you did was resist the person. Nobody likes to be told that they should do something or that they need to do something.
The natural reaction is to resist this.
The interesting thing is that you also react this way to yourself. When you tell yourself that you should do something or that you need to do something, you respond by resisting…yourself.
You end up starting an internal battle. One part of you is pushing you to do something. We’ll call that the “should” side. Another side of you is pushing back, fighting that notion. There’s resistance to doing the thing, and there’s also a resistance to not doing it that’s happening at the same time.
The result: you get stuck.
Have you ever noticed that when you’re feeling like it’s imperative to do something, it’s increasingly difficult to get it done? That’s because you’re at war inside. You’re experiencing an emotional stalemate between the “should” side and the side that’s pushing back. Fortunately, it’s easy to clear the slate with the Sedona Method and get on with life.
So next time you experience this feeling of should, try the following process to dissolve the resulting stuckness:
- Allow yourself to notice how you’re pressuring yourself to do some thing. You’re telling yourself you should do it, or you need to do it. Notice what that feels like.
- Also notice the feeling of resistance or defiance that gets stirred up as a result.
- Could you let go of that feeling of resistance?
- And could you let go of the feeling of “should?”
Repeat the process until you no longer feel like you’re pressuring yourself. You’ll notice that when that happens, the internal battle will dissolve and the stuckness will free itself. At that point, you can actually accomplish what you need to, and chances are you’ll enjoy the process as well!
-Craig
In the comments, let’s talk about what you commonly pressure yourself to do. Does it make it difficult for you to accomplish that particular thing? If you tried the process, did it help?

meditation free online

Hello Jacki M,
Hope you are enjoying FreeMeditation.ca. If practiced regularly, meditation is thought to help develop habitual, unconscious microbehaviours that can potentially produce widespread positive effects on physical and psychological functioning.
How does meditation work?
There are many forms of meditation, ranging in complexity from strict, regulated practices to general recommendations. If practiced regularly, meditation is thought to help develop habitual, unconscious microbehaviours that can potentially produce widespread positive effects on physical and psychological functioning. Meditation even for 15 minutes twice a day has been shown to bring beneficial results.
Parasympathetic response
Most theories are based on the assumption that meditation is a sophisticated form of relaxation involving a concept called the parasympathetic response. Psychological stress is associated with activation of the sympathetic component of the autonomic nervous system which, in its extreme, causes the ‘fight or flight response’. Meditation and any form of rest or relaxation acts to reduce sympathetic activation by reducing the release of catecholamines and other stress hormones such as cortisol, and promoting increased parasympathetic activity which in turn slows the heart rate and improves the flow of blood to the viscera and away from the periphery.

Other neurophysiological effects
Other proponents claim that meditation involves unique neurophysiological effects; however, this remains to be proven. Research at the Meditation Research Program suggests the limbic system may be involved in Sahaja Yoga Meditation since significant effects involving mood state have been consistently observed.

Defining what we mean by meditation
The most important issue that must be addressed in this field of research is to clearly define meditation and then subject that definition to scientific testing.
Meditation is popularly perceived to be any activity in which the individual’s attention is primarily focused on a repetitious cognitive activity. This very broad definition is, in the opinion of the Meditation Research Program, the main cause for much of the inconsistent outcomes seen in meditation research.
Thoughtless awareness
If one closely examines the authentic tradition of meditation it is apparent that meditation is a discrete and well defined experience of a state called ‘thoughtless awareness’. This is a state in which the excessive and stress producing activity of the mind is neutralized without reducing alertness and effectiveness.
Authentic meditation enables one to focus on the ‘present moment’ rather than dwell on the unchangeable past or undetermined future. It is this state of equipoise that is said to be therapeutic both psychologically and physically and which fundamentally distinguishes meditation from simple relaxation, physical rest or sleep.

Testimonials
I love Sahaja Yoga Meditation and it is the only thing I do when ever I find free time and I must say that it guides me all the time. I am practicing Sahaj from fifteen years and loving it.

Cause Announcement from Project for TEARS: Telling Everyone About Rape & Suicide
Author of Beyond the Tears and advocate Lynn C. Tolson will be interviewed on October 6, 2009 at 8 AM Pacific Time. Listen as Lynn talks about domestic violence during October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Lynn C. Tolson
Cause Creator
Project for TEARS: Telling Everyone About Rape & Suicide
The mission of TEARS: to comfort victims by sharing my story, to confront violence by breaking the silence, to challenge society via information and action
Donations Go To:
Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, Inc AKA RAINN A 501(c)(3) nonprofit
Positions:
- Sexual assault, addiction, and suicide are unsolved social problems that carry stigmas.
- Stigmas cast a code of silence that does not solve problems.
- By bringing my dark secrets to light, it is my hope that others who have been abused will know that they are not alone.
- Project for TEARS can help to open lines of communication, eliminate shame, and experience healing.
- My book, Beyond the Tears: A True Survivor’s Story, promotes understanding of the issues that cause individual suffering and plague our society.
Description:
My memoir, Beyond the Tears: A True Survivor’s Story, has evolved into a mission: The Project for TEARS: Telling Everyone About Rape & Suicide. Those who have been victims of sexual assault are more likely to attempt suicide. The results are too often tragic in terms of lost human potential. I use my education as a social worker and my personal experience to present on the topics of sexual assault, suicide, and support for the survivor. So no shed tear is wasted.

New from Angela Shelton about the warrior workbook
September 18th, 2009 Posted 3:56 pm
As soon as possible I will set up the Echoes OF Courage page so we can talk about this. It is a wonderful new addition to all that this woman has done for women and men alike when it comes to sharing and caring about those who are learning to live a real life after abuse.
The video below starts out a bit shaky for her yet PLEASE if you just watch past that you will be so glad you did. It’s about an hour and half long so make some time to listen all the way through. Save it for later or over the weekend, but please watch it and forward this on to any of your friends and readers who will also get the most of it. thank you all, LadyJ

Please check out “Thank A Soldier”
September 17th, 2009 Posted 1:42 pm
Cause Announcement from Thank A Soldier
So if you’ve looked on the media board recently you’ve noticed a song by a Canadian soldier called "What A Soldier Left Behind" written and recorded by MCpl Elton Adams. You can read more about it down below but Mcpl Adams has decided that every purchase of this song on ITUNES he will be giving to The Soldier On Program (Started by Soldiers for injured soldiers) so if you have Itunes do a search for "What A Soldier Left behind" and download it for $0.99 cents and help our wounded heroes.
MCpl Elton Adams was born and raised in Roddickton, Newfoundland, Canada. At the age of seventeen Elton Adam enrolled inthe Canadian Forces. During his first six years was employed with the First Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Shilo Manitoba. While serving with this Regiment worked in both B and C batteries and ventured to Bosnia on Roto 7. It was also at this time hestarted to write his own music.
While with the Artillery he played and sang for the troops all of the time. In Bosnia his band, “Guns and Hose’s”(this was our band name because the Artillery had the big-guns and we practiced in a Fire hall—hose’s) opened up for the CANCON show. Domestically, he had a band called, Dirty Laundry and performed for almost all of the Regiments functions, private parties, and local bars.
he has served his country for over eight years and a Military Police-Officer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With only two years in the Military police trade received notification that he was to embark on a seven month tour to Afghanistan. Further, he would need to complete 8-months of work-up training in Edmonton before the tour began.
One of the songs Elton wrote, “What a Soldier Left Behind” was heard by his supervisors and the response was extremely positive. It lead to performing at our farewell parade on January 17th 2008. There were over 2000 personnel present for the parade, both soldiers and their families. The song became and is still growing into a big hit amongst the Canadian Forces community. Elton was presented with my Colonel and General’s commendation for the song.
“On March 20th 2008, I performed, “What a Soldier Left Behind”, in Afghanistan with Canada’s beloved rock band, Blue Rodeo, at our “support the troops” concert, again the response was incredible. Elton received General Hillier’s, (our retired Chief of Defence Staff) commendation and I received many thank-you’s from my fellow soldiers, civilian employees and retired NHL Players (Doug Gilmour sent me a signed jersey) who were present at the show. It was unforgettable. Now that I’m back from Afghanistan I have finished recording my first album at Denmark Productions and I have just signed a major deal with music distribution company Matchbox Recordings. Matchbox Recordings will be releasing my album in the UK on March 2, 2009. ” – Elton Adams

Inward Bloom: Join me on a 45-day challenge! (video inside)
Join me on a 45-day challenge! (video inside)
Posted: 14 Sep 2009 04:57 PM PDT
Do you have a health & fitness goal? Maybe you want to lose some weight, be more active, eat better, build more strength, run a marathon, or some combination thereof. Or maybe you have something else in mind altogether.
So what is standing in your way?
Whatever your goal may be; I want to help you accomplish it. So I’ve decided to host a 45 day health & fitness challenge to do that.
This challenge is designed to put you on the fast track to the finish line. Whether you just want to go for walks more often or go all out and get in the best shape of your life, this challenge will get you past your biggest barriers to succeeding.
What is it?
The premise of this challenge is to provide you with a powerful toolset over the course of 45 days to dismantle the emotional barriers you face as you pursue your personal health & fitness goals. Think it’s too hard? Think you don’t have enough time? Losing motivation? Think you don’t have the willpower?
I know about all the roadblocks. We’re going to put them all to rest using the Sedona Method. You can make huge progress in 45 days.
With the help of a highly supportive community, you’ll learn how to take the struggle out of the process. You’ll discover the incredible capabilities that are already inside of you (that you may not even be aware of). You’ll learn how to accomplish your goal and actually enjoy the process!
Watch the video below. I talk about the challenge and a bit about my own goal.
Click here to join the BloomVerse community and participate!
If you’re already a member, head over to the forum and let me know that you’re participating by posting in the new “Health & Fitness” section.
This is going to be a great time! I’m very excited about starting my own goal and I can’t wait to help you with yours. I’ll be explaining more details about how the challenge works on this blog very soon and I’ll be revealing a little more about me as well…
Please note
This is not about fad diets or “snake oil” products. I’m not selling you anything. This is about using the Sedona Method to dissolve the barriers you believe are standing in your way. This works. So whatever your goal is, it’s a perfect fit.
Let’s have some fun!
